is the president of JCi3 Ministries, and a champion for both contemporary and traditional approaches to ministry. As a son of Macon, Georgia, he strongly believes in Black institutional leadership.
This commitment is shown in his participation with the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia. As a Millennial preacher and teacher, he helps leaders in all generations see the necessity of the collective, with an intergenerational approach. As an active 20 year member of Alpha Phi Alpha Incorporated, his commitment to the strength of Black institutions reaches beyond the pulpit. He is serious about Black representation in all arenas; therefore after a deployment to Iraq, he still faithfully serves as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He is the husband of Dr. Sherice J. Nelson; the father of one amazing daughter, Jamiya, and a brilliant son, Carter. They show him so much about God’s fatherly relationship with humanity. He attended thee Fort Valley State University and Morehouse School of Religion earning a Bachelor of Arts in History (2007) and a Master of Divinity in Homiletics (2020). While at the Morehouse School of Religion, he was inducted into Theta Phi an international honors society, graduated Magna Cum Laude during pandemic, and was the Gardner C. Taylor Preaching Award Winner. Rev. Coar is currently a Doctorate of Ministry student at the George W. Truett Seminary, the intellectual home of Dr. Joel Gregory, at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Reverend Coar is a strong believer in Paul’s sentiments “Necessity has been laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me if I preach not the gospel” and “I became all things to all men that I might by all means win some.” He believes this is why he has been invited to preach throughout the state of Georgia, in Central Texas, and Northern California. His passion for the Black Church drives his passion for Black Millennial participation and is often called upon to passionately raise an old hymn of the church.
